You can also use it as backdrops for photos or pictures of your finished projects. This is also a wonderful product for crafters like myself who want to leave things unfinished off in order to save money on paint. It’s not just for crafty people though, so don’t worry if you don’t usually do crafts; this product is perfect for anyone looking to make the most out of their materials with minimal effort!
It’s hard finding a great way to finish off costumes and projects with such small budgets these days. A double sided crafting tape is a great solution to that problem. You can easily make props or backdrops out of cardboard and use this sticky tape to finish them off. The best part is, you don’t need to worry about painting them, not to mention its super cheap to buy! It’s also great for crafters who want to leave things unfinished for future projects or for costumers who don’t have enough money left over after buying their costume supplies.
The only problem is, finding a good one can be tough. Craft stores only have the cheapest models that are not as durable or easy to put on correctly. That’s why I decided to make my own and test it out myself before sharing it with you!
I first made mine using duct tape, which worked just fine but there were a few cases where I needed to step in and do the tape my self before it started to unwind from itself. This led me to the idea of making my own double sided tape with a cotton ball in between two layers of duct tape, which ended up being much more durable; however, this also meant that I had an extra step when applying it which made things harder for me.
I then realized that the cotton ball was simply slowing down my process; even if I had to do some tape work myself, it was only 2 minutes of extra effort and then I was all set. The last model I made using only duct tape, no cotton balls and it ended up being my favorite model. It’s super easy to put together, has a longer lasting stickyness, is waterproof and super cheap to make!
First thing you want to do is grab your supplies: a roll of duct tape and scissors. The best way to start this project is by folding the ends of the roll over onto itself so that it makes a more rectangle shaped roll.
Fold the roll into thirds, then fold one of the ends up over it. You can fold it into a square shape if you prefer, all depends on how much tape you want to use in each roll.
Once you have your roll, grab your scissors and start cutting up one of the sides. This will be the part (or sides) that are going to go on top of your finished product; it’s easier if you cut the sides first before cutting up through them.
